How can physicians effectively implement informed consent and shared decision-making?
I feel that informed consent and shared decision-making are two different things. They both involve discussions with patients. But informed consent suggest that the process of enrolling in a specific clinical trial or having a specific procedure is already underway. Shared decision-making is much broader and takes place further upstream in the process and may involve a situation in which there may be several options.
