The story of one young professional's journey from the small island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, to the United States of America. Using his life's experiences, Dr. Ty Richardson guides readers through his journey of arriving in the US, entering school, selecting a degree and completing college. He then guides young professionals on graduation, life after college, finances and even living situations to consider, then finally, work-life balance. Ty is joined by his friends John Bloore, Warner Leedy, Charlotte Leo and Marni Peters who all share their stories, experiences and advice, complementing and at times differing from Ty's own advice as together they prepare young professionals for life after high school.

Seen as the first installment, this journey stops short of advancing in the workplace, as it is meant to be an introduction to the workforce. Readers will understand the challenges that faced Ty, John, and Charlotte, and how to overcome them using their advice. Later in the book, readers would come to understand Warner's and Marni's approach to life and post-college decisions, while Ty continues to use his journey as the backdrop of the story.

Part biography, part self-help guide, this book is a compilation of five friends who genuinely shared their experiences, advice and resources to shape a better life for today's young professional, in America and beyond.

  • A Study of Generation X's and Y's Perceptions of the Customer Experience when Purchasing Airline Travel

A qualitative methodology was used to explore a study of Generation X's and Generation Y's perceptions of the customer experience when purchasing airline travel. The study was designed around two research questions: (a) What does customer experience mean to Generation X and Generation Y? (b) How do Generation X's and Generation Y's perceptions of customer experience affect airline travel purchases? Using Skype VoIP technology, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six members of Generation X and six members of Generation Y as a means of collecting the data for the study. The analysis of the data included the emergence of themes based on interviewees' responses. A new theme, the efficient use of a product or service, emerged, which was added to existing factors already included in the definition of the customer experience by prior theorists. Additionally, price was originally stated as a factor but was not mentioned by interviewees as part of the customer experience; however, it remained important in the evaluation of which brand to purchase travel from. Both Generation X and Y evaluated their perception of their past experiences during the search process, but ranked criteria differently to make their final purchase decision. Gen X valued membership in an airline's rewards program when traveling for business while Gen Y focused on price, sometimes without regard for prior experiences. In accordance with previous research, the findings of this study also showed similarities and differences between the two cohorts and the impact their perceptions had on their travel purchases. The travel industry was also examined, which established an overall negative impression of travel by Gen X and Gen Y as an undercurrent of the study. The findings of this study recommend further research regarding Gen X, Gen Y, the customer experience, and the travel industry.
