What do you do if you want to expand your professional network beyond your industry in Thought Leadership?
Make a goal to target a select few groups and or organizations over a period of time. Informational interviews are excellent tools. Also seek out speed networking or business matchmaking with your own pitch and the WIFM you hope to get out of the interaction.

How can you use thought leadership to promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals?
The vision of SDGs can be traced back several years. I supported set up of the Global Compact by reviewing /evaluating annual reports submitted by companies to maintain their status. JCI (Junior Chamber International) also sets up their program management guide program tied to SDGs to ensure their civic engagement activities embody these values. Aligning an organizational vision to SDGs needs to be intentional, unwavering and measurable - it's not easy but it's the right thing to do.

How can you identify the best channels to distribute your thought leadership content?
I’ve made it a point to highlight the dynamics of sales and buyers. That’s one of the reasons I got into procurement and remain here. It helped me target my content. Stay focused on your area and continue to be curious with your audience - invite their feedback regularly so you can keep your content fresh and relevant.

How can you structure contracts to minimize environmental impact?
If you set no metrics you get no results. Set quantitative targets that tie to your corporate ESG targets, which are growing at a rapid pace globally. Most publicly traded companies in the US will inevitably need to disclose targets and achievements so why not start now? Do business in Europe and the mandate is already there.
