As a NET Team Member, I may be called on in an emergency situation (such as an earthquake) to act as a first responder in my neighborhood in place of professional first responders, who will likely be overwhelmed. In addition to disaster responsibilities, NET Members participate in training classes, community events (as staff at first aid stations,) and community outreach. Show less

Assisted with video production at Portland information security conference BSides Portland.

Gave a talk on supply chain security at a week-long "summer camp" for high school students to learn about information security.

Gave a presentation titled "Emerging Technologies and Data Management Challenges" to a conference of law enforcement information security systems professionals at the 2015 Oregon CJIS Users Workshop & CJIS Security Summit, as part of the Security Summit track. The talk covered new technologies and the challenges they present for data management, data integrity security, and legal issues surrounding the same.

Gave presentation at iUrban Teen Tech Summit on "Cyber Security Careers". Presented to two groups of technology-interested underprivileged teenagers.

Occasional volunteer at AC Portland (a local affiliate of America SCORES,) providing support at various events, from fundraising luncheons for potential donors to soccer camps for middle school students.

Volunteered with the Bicycle Transportation Alliance from 1998-2001 frequently, intermittently since mid 2012.

Work done included setting up early IT infrastructure, envelope stuffing, and general "office" type work at their headquarters in the late '90s; more recently have participated in "Bike Courtesy Action", Bike Service Station, and bike safety education at schools.
