    As a NET Team Member, I may be called on in an emergency situation (such as an earthquake) to act as a first responder in my neighborhood in place of professional first responders, who will likely be overwhelmed. In addition to disaster responsibilities, NET Members participate in training classes, community events (as staff at first aid stations,) and community outreach.

    Emerging Technologies & Data Management Challenges. New technologies are popping up all the time, making information technology and information security professionals lives more interesting. How do we keep up with the latest trends, and how do we keep those we support from undertaking dangerous information security practices? This talk will cover some of the hurdles faced by IT professionals in how to manage new technologies, including examples of previous paradigm shifts, such as the introduction of the smartphone and tablet, and the emerging trend of “Bring Your Own Device.” The challenges of maintaining compliance with government and industry standards is a problem giving many IT professionals heartburn. Ed will discuss some of the methods used to help in this.
