Predicting Hospital Readmissions with Statistical Map Reduce Functions
The project started when I was assigned to create a large patient encounter adhoc report extract. The request called for a lot of patient encounter focused data that was to be used by Aurora's research teams. Once I delivered the extract to the research team, I continued work on the project, and used the same extract to create a patient encounter data model in Aurora's Aster environment. The project started when I was assigned to create a large patient encounter adhoc report extract. The request called for a lot of patient encounter focused data that was to be used by Aurora's research teams. Once I delivered the extract to the research team, I continued work on the project, and used the same extract to create a patient encounter data model in Aurora's Aster environment. I then used Aster's SQL Map Reduce functionality to do a proof of concept of in database analytics for Aurora Healthcare. I used Aster's Generalized Linear Model and Correlation SQL Map Reduce functions to help analyze the data. In addition, I created a Conditional Probability SQL Map Reduce function using Aster Developer Express. With the help of these SQL Map Reduce functions, I was able to create a scoring model to identify patients at the highest risk for readmission based off of indicators in the original data set. I presented the Scoring Algorithm process in Aster at the Teradata Partners Conference on October 20th 2013.
