  • Patagonia - Let My People Go Surfing

    -

After reading, "Let My People Go Surfing" by Yvon Chouinard, my only disappointment was that I hadn't discovered it sooner. Patagonia is proof that creating, running, or working for a business doesn't always have to be about just the bottom line. With the right values, companies can do good and make money. It's this line of thinking that I wish I had been exposed to earlier in my life. With this in mind, I started reaching out to students, teachers, and schools across the country to get this…

With this in mind, I started reaching out to students, teachers, and schools across the country to get this book into their hands.

The initial project consisted of purchasing forty copies of Let My People Go Surfing and working with a former high school teacher to create a course outline for one class. To date, six different high school classes and over one hundred students have participated in the project and the course outline is now a thirty-five-page Teacher’s Implementation Guide.

  • Waltham High School Entrepreneurial Program

    -

I created the Waltham High School Entrepreneurial Program to give students an opportunity to learn and apply business concepts in a real-world environment.

The program provided education, mentorship, and a grant that allowed students to research, create, and execute a business idea of their choosing. The students were guided through the different phases of company and product development including idea generation, prototyping, market research, go to market strategy, and sales.

The program provided education, mentorship, and a grant that allowed students to research, create, and execute a business idea of their choosing. The students were guided through the different phases of company and product development including idea generation, prototyping, market research, go to market strategy, and sales.

The program resulted in students creating custom branded lanyards with the school's name and logo that were sold at the school store and outside the classroom. The profits were used to create a scholarship that was awarded to a graduating senior selected by the school's scholarship committee.

  • Change Heroes School House

    -

After watching a TEDx talk about a fundraising platform that would help groups of friends raise enough money to build a schoolhouse for children in need, I emailed the speaker asking to sign up.

After exchanging a few emails, I went on to become one of the startup's (Change Heroes) first beta users and successfully raised enough money to fund the construction of a schoolhouse in Africa. This schoolhouse, built in partnership with WE Charity would educate and empower roughly 1,000…

After exchanging a few emails, I went on to become one of the startup's (Change Heroes) first beta users and successfully raised enough money to fund the construction of a schoolhouse in Africa. This schoolhouse, built in partnership with WE Charity would educate and empower roughly 1,000 children over the course of its lifetime.

In 2013, I was fortunate enough to travel to Narok County in the southern part of the Great Rift Valley of Kenya to meet the children who would be attending the newly built school.

While there, I was featured in a mini-documentary about the project which can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDROjx_S7Ko
