We also shared a fast for a day with several non-Muslim members of the Interfaith ERG. This ERG has continued to make a meaningful impact upon the culture of West Monroe, becoming a platform to help educate and spread awareness of different faiths and their associated cultures, as well as advocating for the comfort and community of those who need it. It is a dynamic youth group, giving Muslim youth a healthy environment in which they can build bonds of sisterhood, further their Islamic knowledge together, and gain volunteer opportunities with local partner charities like ICNA Relief and Helping Hand. The NeighborNet Coordinator is the local NeighborNet in-charge, and is responsible for the organization & outreach of the local YMS NN. Young Muslims (YM) is the youth (14-26 years old) division of Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), a a leading grassroots organization in the American Muslim community. dedicated towards self-development, education, outreach and social services, fostering connections between Muslims & the public. I was responsible for moderating the ACMW Lounge, making sure it remains a safe & inclusive space for women in tech on campus to study in. I trained our future Marketing chair, passing on the torch of the organization's mission, vision, and values to our new board. I designed our first ever ACMW graduate stoles, paid for by the CS department in the College of Science at Illinois Tech, and participated in the first ACMW Graduate Reception at our lounge space in the tower. And I will continue to help my Alma Mater & my community of powerful women in technology on Illinois Tech campus in any way I can, as an Alumni member of ACMW. Jan2017-June2018 Marketing Chair of ACMW Established a social media presence for the new organization. Communicated with Illinois Tech administration to gain further publicity and impact for ACM-W Incorporated new platforms like Remind and Whatsapp to marketing communications in order to enhance connections both new and ongoing. Help organize events like a CyberSecurity Hackathon for technical women and general students at Illinois Tech. Attended conferences on behalf of the organization: attended Midwest Women in Technology conference held at Google Chicago in 2017, WECode Conference held at Harvard University in 2018. Lead the collaborative project CarePackages with ICNA Relief Chicago and IIT MSA in 2016 gathering essentials for the homeless and needy. Developed a theme for ongoing MSA general body event flyers. Transferered the MSA Facebook group to a Facebook Page for more professional and formal general body notification. Connected MSA email to Instagram, Remind App, and said Facebook Page. Posted news articles for MSA on hawklink. Coordinated several different social media platforms and people to gain the best audiences, and ensure accuracy of information. Show less
