You want to build relationships with junior colleagues. How can you avoid coming across as patronizing?
I definitely lean in on being transparent with my colleagues when I’ve made a mistake or learned a lesson from an experience that influences how I approach a situation differently. As a leader, my ultimate goal is for others to feel it’s possible to be in my role or any leadership role by witnessing my humanity. We’re always learning and growing, and part of that growth includes missteps…that never changes no matter the title.

Dolores Mission School is a Catholic parish grade school (TK-8) committed to serving low-income families in Boyle Heights and greater Los Angeles. Together with the family, we strive to educate the whole child, academically, spiritually, physically, and morally, in a nurturing environment.
Our students and their families are part of a larger faith community with a rich cultural identity. Solicited funds and support for the Women of Impact fundraiser (more than $90k raised), honoring Proyecto’s founding women and other prominent leaders in the community. Secured the event’s emcee, Alysha Del Valle, who raised funds and leveraged her platform of more than 70,000 followers to raise awareness.
