What are your methods for testing and evaluating new technical support tools?
I always go to documentation to see what the community support and responsiveness is for the tool. If there's an available repository somewhere, I'll check issues, activity, and last published date. I also like to search on a central repository storage service to see how many people are currently using the tool in their projects. If a proof of concept makes sense, I would work on either standing up a new greenfield project with the tool included, or just go through the process of adding the tool to an existing project to play with it and see what I like or don't like about it. Considering the flexibility of potentially changing to another tool at a later time is also important. How hard would it be to remove and replace the tool?
