Here's how you can develop the skills needed for future career success as an entry level System Architect.
In the 2+ decades of architecting large, robust systems such as Equinox3D, I found these to be helpful: - You need humility to realize that you have to write code to have a good intuition about the robustness and efficiency of a design. Drawing charts and diagrams will keep you too far from the "trenches", but: - When solving a new problem, fight the urge to start typing code right away. It's ok to think about it for a while (even days), asking the question: is this going to be future-proof, or am I going to have to rewrite it in 10-15 years? These ideas helped me design a system that scales and extends naturally to modern paradigms while out-performing other systems often by orders of magnitude.

How do you handle feedback and rejection after a coding interview?
I try to learn from them. There are usually bits of information I can incorporate into my work. I've architected massive, super-efficient systems like Equinox3D, so I don't really let failing a coding interview affect the sense of my coding skills. On-the-spot coding is a completely different skill set that's the polar opposite of the real world where thinking through a problem and properly solving it (even if it takes a week) is much more important. Especially if the failure was due to something like not remembering an algorithm. That's what Google is for. It's a waste of a human brain. I've invented 100s of algorithms and I didn't even memorize those. They're nicely documented in my codebase, my patent filings and publications.
