    Position
    As a member of the board I supported the work of SPOTLIGHT KIDS THEATRE (SKiTs) and provided mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations were led by SKiTs' executive director (ED), the Board-ED relationship was both critical and expected.

    Specific Board Member responsibilities include: Leadership, governance and oversight
    • Served as a trusted advisor to the ED as she developed and implemented SKiTs' strategic plan
    • Approved SKiTs' annual budget, audit reports, and material BUSINESS decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
    • Contributed to an annual performance evaluation of the ED
    • Assisted the ED and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
    • Partnered with the ED and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
    • Served on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
    • Represented SKiTs' to stakeholders; acted as an ambassador for the organization
    • Ensured SKiTs' commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities SKiTs' serves

    Board Members will serve a one-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for additional terms. Service on SKiTs' Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to Board Members’ duties.
