    Led by a slew of eventual all-conference performers, a Coach of the Year and several future NFL players, the 1981 UTA football team holds the notable distinction as the program's third, and final, Southland Conference Champion. In subsequent years, eight other members of the 1981 team had their names selected in the NFL Draft or went on to play in the NFL, Canadian Football League and United States Football League and have numerous Super Bowl rings and Grey Cups to show for it.
