Here's how you can instill purpose and meaning in employees' work in Product R&D.
I think role definitions should be carefully layered to create organic innovation amongst team members. Roles should be defined at an individual level, a project/product level, and by type/phase of R&D. This give team members a variety that is healthy in an R&D org whilst still keeping everything moving in the right direction. It also allows for rotation of individuals into new territories, ensuring fresh thinking, constant engagement, and satisfaction.
