Civil Rights and Social Action
In 2013, I spent a summer volunteering at OneSky's (previously Half the Sky) Beijing China Care Center. This center provides 24-hour care for orphans who are mentally and physically impaired and require medical procedures. They provide both pre and post-surgical care. I spent five+ hours a day in the Care Center feeding, playing, washing, and teaching the children.
Being adopted myself, this was an incredible opportunity to give back and also learn from the lived realities of so many…In 2013, I spent a summer volunteering at OneSky's (previously Half the Sky) Beijing China Care Center. • Pioneered the flagship "NJ Youth and Government Service Retreat," a 3-day service trip to the New Jersey Shore for student volunteers to assist in building homes destroyed after Hurricane Sandy.

See publicationAmidst increased calls by the Trump Administration to end U.S.-China exchange programs; which included the cancellation of The Fulbright Program in China in July 2020, I wrote a piece for the Quincy Institute of Responsible Statecraft detailing the harmful impacts of such actions on the future of U.S. diplomacy and the role of academia.
