“I knew Sam when he worked at Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center in the Powertrain Engineering Group. Frankly, he was one of the rare people who specifically sought out others outside of his group to learn beyond his immediate job description. In various lunches and coffee breaks, Sam distinguished himself as someone who was both constructive in his curiosity, as well as a very deep thinker, with the brains to match the curiosity. It did not surprise me when he left to join a consultancy, where I'm sure he distinguished himself even moreso as someone who could take any question on. Nor did it surprise me when he went on to pursue higher education; Again, totally in keeping with his proven curiosity and capacity to use his curiosity for growth. I would have no qualms with letting Sam assume a very autonomous responsibility with any organization, big or small. He's the kind of professional who will deliver without being babysat, who will go beyond the obvious standards & boundaries of the question at hand.
