“I have had the distinct honor of working with and partnering with Jacey Coy during my tenure at Casa de los Ninos. Jacey leads a very large and diverse team of behavioral health staff. Jacey has restructured the leadership team and promoted up and recruited solid professionals who have really made some major changes to our service model as an organization! Jacey has been a huge advocate of developing his staff and is eager to partner with Human Resources for the strategic needs of his staff. Jacey keeps a positive relationship with all members of his team and even in tough circumstances, leaves his team feeling empowered and cared for. I've valued Jacey's option since the beginning and know that he will continue to have a strong leadership ethic that is second to none in the industry! As challenging as the behavioral health environment can be, Jacey brings a can-do spirit and determination that reflects in his staff. I've learned a lot about the field from Jacey and have enjoyed the partnership at Casa.”

Stories of the Accused: A Phenomenological Inquiry of MFTs and Accusations of Unprofessional Conduct
Journal of Marital and Family Therapy
Interviews were conducted with 10 MFTs (six females & four males) who had received a formal accusation of unprofessional conduct and went before state licensure boards in three different states. Accusations included dual relationships, financial fraud/errors, receiving DUIs, sexual misconduct, and emotionally harming a client. Utilizing Moustakas' (1994) transcendental phenomenology, five essential themes emerged: (a) the experience of being formally accused of unprofessional conduct is…
Interviews were conducted with 10 MFTs (six females & four males) who had received a formal accusation of unprofessional conduct and went before state licensure boards in three different states. Accusations included dual relationships, financial fraud/errors, receiving DUIs, sexual misconduct, and emotionally harming a client. Utilizing Moustakas' (1994) transcendental phenomenology, five essential themes emerged: (a) the experience of being formally accused of unprofessional conduct is life-changing, (b) state MFT licensing boards are more punitive than rehabilitative, (c) obtaining support is vital, (d) making accusations creates stigma, (e) therapists were unprepared to handle accusations of unprofessional conduct. Clinical implications include the importance of supervision, personal therapy, and strategies for prevention and rehabilitation with this population.

Intimate Partners Who Struggle With Formal Commitments: Attachment Styles, Major Challenges, and Clinical Implications
The American Journal of Family Therapy
Abstract
In this article, we explore attachment perspectives of romantic relationships and intimate partner commitments. We then present four challenges faced by individuals who are in a relationship where an expressed problem is the lack of a formal commitment. The four challenges that we address are (a) lack of recognition for the relationship, (b) cultural/religious pressures, (c) not being financially ready for a formal commitment, and (d) differences in what a formal commitment means…Abstract
In this article, we explore attachment perspectives of romantic relationships and intimate partner commitments. We then present four challenges faced by individuals who are in a relationship where an expressed problem is the lack of a formal commitment. The four challenges that we address are (a) lack of recognition for the relationship, (b) cultural/religious pressures, (c) not being financially ready for a formal commitment, and (d) differences in what a formal commitment means. We then provide real-life examples of four people struggling with formal commitment, and we conclude with clinical implications of this phenomenon.Other authorsSee publication
