I enjoyed a full morning of volunteering to clean up and beautify Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. This volunteer event was set up by one of my colleagues and many of our teams saw it as a great way to give back to the community and help keep our parks clean. My group was specifically assigned to cleaning up the Botanical Gardens within the park. We spent the morning picking up trash and pulling out weeds and other harmful, parasitic plants that grew in full after the rainy season.

I felt quite joyful about this event. Besides getting out of the office on such a beautiful day, it felt good to give back to the community that has given so much to me. Additionally, if only by a little bit, I feel pride in helping out Mother Nature and the Earth that is our home. I will definitely be taking part in more Environmental Volunteer events, and will probably look out to join an organization in the future! Show less
