The Destiny Awards recognize members nationally for excellence and creative accomplishment in destination marketing and promotion at the local and regional level.

    As NYC recovered from the pandemic and visitation to the city continued to increase, NYC & Company encouraged travelers to explore various neighborhoods in the five boroughs, particularly those that may be lesser known. Get Local NYC, an extension of the tourism campaign "It's Time for New York City," was a multichannel marketing and communications effort aimed at supporting small businesses around NYC and lifting up BIPOC- and women-owned enterprises so that all could experience the economic benefits of the industry. The program, which was launched in the spring and continued through the summer, featured one borough each month in a press release that showcased that borough's essential attractions and characteristics. Paid media drove to similar content on NYCgo, featuring guides, photo galleries, videos, itineraries, events, and venues. Social promotions included content development from influencers from those neighborhoods, and the consumer and B2B newsletters featured borough-specific content during that borough's monthly rotation. The media mix targeted those who were in the market, as well as those in the NYC suburbs, northeast, and long-haul domestic travelers.
