“I was blessed to have the privilege to work with Jan at Microsoft for over six years - Jan is an AMAZING talent and one of the most dedicated, hardworking, collaborative, organized, results oriented, customer obsessed and respectful individuals I have worked with in my 27+ year tenure at Microsoft. If I were building a new team tomorrow Jan is one of the first people I would contact, as he makes everyone around him better. He executes with precision and with painstaking attention to detail but never losing sight of how his work aligns to the strategy of the organization. Jan cares only about contributing to the teams, stakeholders and customers success. Honored to work alongside Jan who I can say has contributed immensely to my success - extremely grateful for making the company and the people around him great.”

This study examined the impact of 1:1 device initiatives in U.S. education K-12 school districts. Specifically, the problem addressed in this research was that studies of the second year of 1:1 technology programs in K-12 school districts had documented challenges among teachers with this change initiative leading to discontent and even abandonment of 1:1 computing initiatives. The abandonment of 1:1 devices holds significant business implications resulting in potential taxpayer losses due to costs incurred, ineffective ROI school districts show for investments, and missed future business opportunities in school districts partnering with other organizations to drive funding for the school district. The nature of the study focused on a qualitative, single case study approach, where the research centered on analyzing the program in a specific place and time. The purpose of this qualitative, multiple case study was to explore teacher experiences during a 1:1 technology initiative, with a purposeful focus on the second year of the program in a U.S. based middle school environment. A multi-case research design was used to satisfy the goal of this exploratory research. The data collection approach was done through interviews, recording 11 teacher perspectives’ as the primary data source and targeted participants of the study, and recommendations and conclusions were drawn to address the overall research question on 1:1 device programs and driving better student learning outcomes.

Students in third world communities often face many economic and educational challenges. The main setback that many kids face today is continued education. Overall, the purpose of this research is how transformational leadership and technology contribute to student learning in third world communities A few key theories were used in this research, which include the Transformational Leadership, the Early Childhood, the Social Penetration, and the Media Richness Theories. From a research method standpoint, meta-analysis was used to determine how these theories relate to themes from various case studies done on improving student learning. The overall finding is that technology in tandem with transformational leadership does improve student learning. To further this study, it is important to determine that the research is repeatable and reproducible to other areas around the world in driving education growth for students to ensure that the processes and studies conducted truly influence improving a students’ education.
