What are some critical thinking frameworks to help peers navigate healthcare and access resources?
A few thoughts when navigating the healthcare system as a consumer. 1) Please have someone with you so they can hear what you hear and help you navigate the system and ask questions. 2) Depending on what you are dealing with always try and get a second opinion. If a doctor gets upset about you wanting another option get another doctor. 3) Anecdotes in medicine are not very good, always look to the object data both objectivly and subjectively. 4) Be patient and take your time navigating the system of care if you have the time. Healthcare is complicated and fragmented. If you can afford to hire a navigator I would recommend hiring someone to help you. A healthcare Sherpa is worth it if you can afford the service.
