“Jean-Luc and I trained together as student officers at The Basic School (United States Marine Corps). He left an indelible impression, even years after we parted ways. In an arduous training environment, he was often a source of moral leadership in our platoon, advocating for the right, but difficult, decision over the alluring alternative. He was also resolutely selfless and committed to the broader team, often the first to raise his hand when challenging work needed to be done. His selfless demeanor and humble leadership approach inspired me to improve my own leadership style. Finally, Jean-Luc was committed to improving himself every day. I recall one day, our platoon was on a long bus drive to conduct a battlefield study at Manassas. Most students were sleeping or playing with their phones, but Jean-Luc was carefully studying a book - determined to learn something new. His dedication was and remains an inspiration to me. Jean-Luc would be a phenomenal addition to any team, and I would jump at the opportunity to work with him again in the future.”
