My PhD project was developing a back exosuit that helps warehouse workers who handle thousands of boxes daily. I led the development of a control algorithm by identifying key requirements and devising a controller framework to meet those requirements. This involved close collaboration with a diverse team of engineers specializing in mechanical design, electrical engineering, and apparel design, as well as biomechanics post-doctoral fellows.

I led the development of a control algorithm by identifying key requirements and devising a controller framework to meet those requirements. This involved close collaboration with a diverse team of engineers specializing in mechanical design, electrical engineering, and apparel design, as well as biomechanics post-doctoral fellows.

Based on our research device, we launched a startup called Vervemotion in 2020, with the mission of commercializing this technology and mitigating back injuries in the field.

Towards the end of my PhD, I developed a controller that utilized computer vision and machine learning to provide varying levels of assistance based on the objects being handled by the user.

Throughout my time at Harvard, our back exosuit team grew up to 10 members, and I took on the role of leading researcher and project manager, overseeing the progress of the project.

While the actual duration of our travel spanned approximately 11 months, extensive planning and resource mobilization were indispensable in making this project a reality. We sought support from both private companies and governmental entities, actively securing funding to sustain our ambitious project…

While the actual duration of our travel spanned approximately 11 months, extensive planning and resource mobilization were indispensable in making this project a reality. We sought support from both private companies and governmental entities, actively securing funding to sustain our ambitious project. Our efforts received extensive coverage from Korean newspapers and major broadcasting companies.
