“Jack worked in my team in Amazon on multiple Machine Learning areas including active learning, privacy, and weak signal feedback. Jack was an outstanding and multi-faceted contributor. He was able to take ambiguous problems, create designs, and see the ideas through to production. His research work was high caliber and resulted in publications and multiple SOTA innovations in Alexa. Besides that, Jack was great team member — striving for consensus, freely sharing ideas, and proactively seeking out collaboration. Great working with you Jack!”

You want to make a career transition into data science. How can you find the right courses to get started?
If you're looking to transition, odds are you already have some of the basic skills. Try to refine your interests and focus on material accordingly; data science is not a panacea, and roles will look different depending on the industry, types of data used and business-critical problems. If you decide you are interested in natural language, you will probably engage more with and learn more from natural language courses/problems than trying to study "data science" in general.

You’re about to present your statistical project. How can you make it more visually engaging?
Do not always be 100% tied to visualizing results through plots made on real data. While these should of course be a main focus of your presentation, think about whether you can use plot sketches, lower resolution plots or conceptual drawings to prime your audience for the key concepts that will be reflected in the "real" plots.

How can you use sampling to identify quality issues?
Sampling is also powerful in that it doesn't need to be uniformly at random, but you can adopt different sampling schemes depending on your problem or goal. For instance, in problems with distinct sub-populations, you can sample more from certain groups that might be more error prone ("stratified" sampling). But, you can still compute population level metrics provided the various samples are weighted appropriately.
