Department faculty sift through hundreds of essays to identify a first place, second place and third place winner. I placed second for "The Crook and the Canine: Reason and Criminality in 'Hound of the Baskervilles.'"

    The English Department awards the annual Elliot Gilbert Memorial Prize to the author of the best critical undergraduate honors thesis produced within a given school year. In order to be considered for the prize, undergraduate students must first be selected to participate in the English Department's Critical Honors Program, for which there are fifteen seats. I received the Prize at the end of the 2010-2011 school year.
