MLI was originally conceived by AASCU’s African-American presidents to ensure that the next generation of leaders in higher education reflects the diversity of our nation. The program identifies African-American, Hispanic, Latino, Asian and Pacific Islanders in senior-level positions who are interested in career advancement and helps them achieve that goal. MLI accepts all qualified applicants who meet the requirements. MLI has reinforced the vital role that diversity plays in the institutional mission, assisting participants to advance in their careers and helping institutions diversify their executive leadership.

Volunteer Experience

  • Volunteer

    Inner City School in Tallahassee

    Children

I worked with students from kindergarten to second grade. They came from family that have drugs issues or economic problems. Because of problems at home, they tended to underperform academically. However, after the year of working with them, their academic performance improved significantly. It was truly a transforming experience. My students taught me love and care transform life.

Got business sponsor and the University's pledge last year. Finally we had a groundbreaking event today. What so cool about this project is that it is a student-centric endeavor. Students will own the business, run it and manage it. The journey we embark on the inspiration of students helping students succeed - part of the cafe proceeds will go into a student scholarship. Students helping students. Today we break ground, tomorrow we change mind. Stay tuned for my update.

The Council of Chinese American Deans and Presidents (CCADP) is established at the time when a growing number of U.S. universities are making concerted efforts to strengthen diversities as a priority to create an environment of equality and inclusiveness for students, faculty, staff, alumni, administrators, and benefactors from different backgrounds. More importantly, these progressive efforts are crucial in developing multicultural capacities that enrich the educational experience of students and better prepare them to live and work competently in an increasingly pluralistic society and a global economy. The members of CCADP share a unique set of cultural values, traits, experiences, and skills in addressing challenges and opportunities facing the U.S. higher learning. CCADP aims to contribute to the diversities in its broadest terms in the U.S. institutions of higher learning and commits to the success of its members through the organization's mission and supportive functions. The CCADP is registered in the State of Florida, the United States of America. The CCADP and its members will abide by the laws of the United States of America, including but not limited to classified information and homeland security/national interest requirements.
