What are ways managers can inspire employees to take on leadership roles?
Delegating is one of my favorite ways of empowering individuals. It not only shows that I trust you, but that I see you as a collaborator and co-author of our journey. By giving that ownership to someone when you delegate responsibility to them, they can now gain confidence and draw from that experience when preparing for their next role.

What are ways managers can inspire employees to take on leadership roles?
Providing timely and effective feedback is crucial to the dynamic of the manager-IC relationship. Providing recognition and showing appreciation often gets overlooked, which is unfortunate as making one feel valued and appreciated can make all the difference in an employee's outlook on their current career. Recognition does not need to be in the form of a promotion or a public-wide setting, but a 1v1 or a shoutout in a team meeting can go a long way.

What are ways managers can inspire employees to take on leadership roles?
Identifying and communicating leadership opportunities is a wonderful thing a manager can do for their IC. I believe the manager should have already been having discussions around career progression with the IC about what their aspirations and career goals are. So when opportunities do come up, there should be alignment, as this was something both parties were working towards.
