In 2007, the County estimated that there were 35,000 homeless individuals at any given time. Over 70% of the homeless here are men, women and children in families. This is what makes the problem invisible. Families are not typically found on the street, but rather travel from one shelter to another or to an occasional hotel room. A few live in their cars. My part time role is to provide support to individuals/families looking for support in various roles from mentoring/inspiring youth, career coaching, physical support through athletics with the youth or repurposing living arrangements, food drives, cooking and most importantly serving those in need during uncertain times.
