Here's how you can break through a career plateau in recruiting as a mid-career professional.
Different fields have different intricacies. Recruiting a doctor or dentist is different than recruiting a senior network engineer. You have to know the intricacies of the field and the behaviors o the people in it. As you go into more niche roles, this is even more necessary. Good recruiters are advisors and share the knowledge they have to help with overall hiring and talent acquisition.

Here's how you can break through a career plateau in recruiting as a mid-career professional.
Too many recruiters are transactional. They will be your best friend on the call but if it isn't going to work out, the conversation falls flat. As a recruiter, I learn so much by being interested and supporting candidates on LinkedIn. This has been a strong source of referrals. Trust is necessary to build a pipeline. Who really trusts someone in the first interaction? The recruiters that repeatedly show up to help their network are the ones that win.

Recruiters should be upskilling in the industries they recruit for. If you work in technology, start dabbling in programming or cloud. Get a cert. This can be applied to marketing, sales, blockchain, and other industries. Here's the reality, most people don't like or respect recruiters. If you show that you at least put some effort into learning their industries, candidates are much more responsive and transparent. Recruiters need to win over candidates. Recruiters are often seen as people who barely know the job. And the reality is how much can you know if you don't understand the details of the role? Surface level knowledge will get surface level results.
