This project consists of the remodel of the existing Thornton Hospital and expansion of the kitchen to accommodate the increased demand by the addition of the Jacobs Medical Center. This project consisted of a 5,500 sf addition, design of new structural systems, and seismic evaluation of the existing structure.

Located on the UCSD East Campus in La Jolla, California, the Jacobs Medical Center is a 10-Story, 510,000 sf patient tower. The new tower houses 245 patient beds, The Hospital for Cancer Care, The Hospital for Women and Infants, and The Hospital for Advanced Surgery.

Located on the UCSD East Campus in La Jolla, California, the Jacobs Medical Center is a 10-Story, 510,000 sf patient tower. The new tower houses 245 patient beds, The Hospital for Cancer Care, The Hospital for Women and Infants, and The Hospital for Advanced Surgery.
The structural design for this tower presented many engineering challenges including irregular building shapes, large cantilevers, and use of performance based seismic design.
The Central Plant is located on the UCSD Jacobs Medical Center Campus in La Jolla, California and provides utilities to the medical center buildings. The Central Plant is a combined steel framed and concrete structure that cascades down a ravine adjacent to the JMC property.

Remodel of historic Owyhee Plaza in downtown Boise, ID. During the remodel of this 100+ year old building, many unforeseen conditions were discovered. We were retained to provide expanded Construction Administrative services to provide direction and mitigate these conditions.

Located in Santa Barbara, California the Cottage Hospital project consisted of approximately 480,000-sf of new construction and 260,000-sf of remodel to existing buildings on the site. The new construction consists of a three-story 200,000-sf Inpatient Facility, a three-story 200,000-sf Outpatient/Diagnostic and Treatment Facility, and a three-story 50,000-sf Neo-natal Intensive Care Facility.

Located in Monterey, California, this project consists of approximately 200,000-sf of new construction and 80,000-sf of remodel to existing buildings on the site. The new construction included following components: a freestanding 5,000-sf Central Plant/ Utility Bunker, a three-story 100,000-sf Inpatient Facility and a three-story 100,000-sf Outpatient/Surgery/Diagnostic and Treatment Facility. The new construction included following components: a freestanding 5,000-sf Central Plant/ Utility Bunker, a three-story 100,000-sf Inpatient Facility and a three-story 100,000-sf Outpatient/Surgery/Diagnostic and Treatment Facility. The remodel aspects included the renovation and seismic upgrade to the existing 1960 & 1968 Wings of the Campus to conform to California Senate Bill 1953.

This project consists of the build out of 13,600 sf of shelled space of the Saperstein Critical Care Tower in Beverly Hills, CA. This TI was to accommodate office space for Cardiothoracic, Pulmonary, and Respiratory Therapy groups.

The Kaiser Permanente Central Hospital Medical Center is a 7 story, 321 bed, 550,000 sf medical center in San Diego, California.

Key Contributions: I was brought on in the Schematic Design phase to study the benefit and feasiblility of using performance based nonlinear analysis for the seismic design.

Located in Fullerton, California, this project consisted of a new 120,000-sf Patient Tower and Central Plant. The 5-story Patient Tower contains the Emergency Department on the ground level, 2 floors of Maternity Services, including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a new Critical Care floor and state of the art Cardiac and Vascular Catheterization Labs. The new underground Central Plant serves both the new Tower and supplies critical utilities for some of the older buildings on campus while the… Show more
