“I am the Senior Vice President for Global Cancer Control at the American Cancer Society. Joseph worked closely with me and my team to decide on an evaluation framework for the global health 3.0 work of ACS. Additionally we called on him to design sampling and survey questions for a project we were sponsoring to show the effect of non-communicable diseases on women's health and well-being. When one of our global scholar grantees, an Indian dental surgeon, was doing some pioneering work in India on head and neck and oral cancers in rural India we asked Joseph to work with him to get a good estimate of the burden of disease in these populations. In each of these circumstances, Joseph demonstrated his professional competency and his willingness to understand the difficult research climate in low and middle income countries. His efforts assured that the products were useful in evaluating how to make best use of scarce resources. He is dedicated to his work and I recommend him highly. Sally G. Every year I participate with other colleagues in preparing dinners and talking with patients and caregivers at the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodges. It is an energizing experience that always reconnects me with our mission delivery and the reason we're all working for the ACS - the people. Additionally, I also participate every year in our Corporate Center Relay For Life - where I walk a lot of miles on the track and raise money for research and our mission delivery.
