“Karthik was instrumental in driving our group to a unified freight payment and audit platform. His meticulous attention to detail, and ability to ask questions relentlessly to flush out gaps in process made the project successful. The project entailed taking individual affiliates using multiple platforms and integrate into a singular platform to leverage volume and ensure accuracy. He encountered many obstacles from the Project Sponsor, and always managed through them with poise and respect. The end result was a simplified and holistic platform where we could easily identify payment gaps and trends to better negotiate with providers. Karthik demonstrates patience in gathering the details of a process to thoroughly grasp the tasks required. Through this approach he brings a fresh innovative view to any project objective. “I had the great opportunity to partner with Karthik on several initiatives and projects in the clinical trial supply space while at Merck and Co. Though both our roles were in Global Procurement, my focus was the business unit while his was the logistics category. The business situation was complex and required strong cross functional cooperation to create the best outcome for our stakeholders. Karthik clearly brought a wealth of category knowledge to the space that really helped the team evolve its perspectively. For the projects that Karthik ran directly, he brought a disciplined project management approach that helped the team focus in on its objectives and kept the team progressing, which was particularly helpful in some of our more ambiguous projects (like Brexit). Its clear that Karthik brings a wealth of Procurement and category knowledge to the table but I always felt it was his ability to extrapolate his skills into new areas and adapt to the shifting requirements that is his strongest asset. Its rare that we get to do exactly what we know, we are often pushed into new circumstances with new situations that are unfamiliar to us. Karthik did an excellent job in being grounded in what he knew but had the ability to expand and apply his skills in new areas.
