    As Chairperson of the Mississauga Youth Advisory Committee, I worked to ensure that the voices of approximately 65,000 youth were represented at the City Level. Our organization aimed to inform youth about issues going on in their city as well as allow them to network with one another. In my tenure, I was privileged to meet with both former Mayor Hazel McCallion as well as Mayor Bonnie Crombie in order to discuss future opportunities for youth in the City of Mississauga.

    Disaster and Humanitarian Relief

    With the Red Cross Youth Action Council, I worked with a team in order to help raise funds for various humanitarian causes and disaster relief funds. Our team managed to do this by means of hosting events which would appeal to youth across our community. Now, within my four years on the council, we had raised over $20,000 through our events. These causes were dedicated to the Syrian Refugee Relief Fund and Nepal Earthquake Relief to name a few.

    Newcomers Without Borders is an organization dedicated towards helping newcomer youth acclimatize to the local traditions and culture. Over the year, our system of mentors helped many youth in order to ensure that we helped as many newcomers as possible. I was responsible for organizing meetings with mentors and mentees assuring that all components of the team were working in complete synergy.

    Terry Fox Foundation

    The Terry Fox Award is a $28,000 Scholarship issued to students who have displayed exceptional capabilities in humanitarian efforts outside of the classroom. This is inclusive of helping alleviate poverty, advocating for patients with terminal illnesses, or speaking about social justice/change. I was shortlisted from over 1,000 candidates from across Canada and made it to the final round of interviews with approximately 100 other candidates from across Canada.
