The American Property Tax Counsel (APTC) today presented its prestigious Martin S. Katz Memorial Award to two men who exemplify the principles on which the Award is based. APTC bestows this Award to that individual who has significantly contributed meaningful valuation theories and/or developed and advanced the understanding or implementation of more equitable real estate assessment practices. APTC established the Award to honor Martin S. Katz, the organization‘s renowned first President and one of its founding fathers who met an untimely death.
President Terrill presented the Martin S. Katz Memorial Award at 2019 APTC annual meetings in Chicago Oct 2019 to K. C. Conway pointing out, “The list of K. C. Conway’s designation goes on and on as does his accomplishments as a writer and thinker regarding property taxation. The depth of his research, analysis and writings has so meaningfully contributed to the work we all do in the field of real estate taxation. This is an annual award recognition bestowed by the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank recognizing a few "Key Players" in the Atlanta Reserve Bank for a body of work. At the end of 2009, I was reognized for my body ofwork in commercial real estate and being a system-wide resource on valuation and real estate matters emanating from the Financial Crisis.

This award was bestowed for my briefings and training to bank regulators on various aspects of housing an commercial real estate during the onset of the Housing and Financial Crisis. This award is preseted annually by the President ofthe Appraisal Institute to a single member of the Appraisal Institute for unique service or contributions to the AI. I was recognized in 2007 for my work at the Federal Reserve in the lead up to the Housing and Financial Crisis and briefing Chairman Bernanke and he Board of Governors on the developing crises and implications on housing and commercial real estate.
