“Krystle English is an absolute marketing powerhouse and is nationally recognized as an industry leader. I've known Krystle for over 4 years through working together at our professional marketing organization, the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS). During this time, she has not only brought her experience and creativity to our local chapters but also is an expert marketer, often writing articles for the National SMPS publication that are both informational and interesting. Krystle has served as an educator, leading our professional certification (CPSM) study group. When Krystle served as Programs Director, she was not only responsible for a worthwhile monthly educational program to serve a membership of 100 members, but she was also responsible for ensuring each event had a venue, food/beverages, and all the moving pieces of a successful occasion. This is no easy feat. Working in A/E/C, I have seen the work Krystle has done for her firms--from elevating their brand and awareness, preparing winning proposals, and even launching a podcast. Krystle is creative, organized, intelligent, loyal, and hardworking, all while understanding the importance of work-life balance. I only hold the greatest respect for all that she has done, and any firm would be extremely fortunate to have Krystle on its team.”

Many organizations use awards to help showcase their firms, market their services, and gain industry recognition. I’ve had the privilege of sitting on various judging panels, including the recent SMPS
Marketing Communications Awards.
Participating as a juror has helped me prepare awards entries for the firms in which I’ve worked. When I judge, I look for a few key items in every entry, aside from the regular requirements. Here are a few tips I’ve learned over the years. -

Declutter Your CRM To Increase Productivity
©Marketer, The Journal of the Society for Marketing Professional Services, August 2019, www.smps.org.
In A/E/C, we have a lot of processes. Your company has a process for deciding which projects you’ll go after. Your marketing team has a process for capturing information for use on proposals. You even have a process for how you start each morning when you get into work. But what do you do when those processes start to create clutter instead of efficiency?

10 Ways To Prepare Yourself for the Minimalist Workplace
SMPS Marketer Journal
The workplace is always evolving. I’ve worked in corporations where the executives were in private offices and others where the owner shared a cubicle wall with an intern. As companies become more agile, individuals are required to step away from their desks and work more collaboratively.

Our office is currently renovating, moving from designated workstations to a flexible work environment. I thought about the paper and desk accessories I had collected over the years and wondered, “Where will I put all my stuff?”
I realized that I had a lot of clutter (mentally and physically) and began a journey toward minimalism. Through my research and testing, I found ways to bring that mindset into the workplace. These ideas worked for me, but I encourage you to tweak them to fit your style.
