    This article showcases an innovative internship program LaVay Lauter has created and launched at Cone Health, Wesley Long Hospital and the Cone Health Cancer Center. This program has enabled the organization to be able to test-drive its interns by assessing skill set and job fit, prior to hire. The internship program is a win-win for both the organization, and for the young people the program serves.

Inspirational messages are blended, with a colored background of choice (nature scenes, or scenes of family and friends) for the patients, and then framed and delivered by our staff; these provide an emotional, mental and spiritual benefit to the patient. The frames are delivered to the patient room and showcased at the bedside. The patient then is…

    Real-world work experience within LaVay Lauter's office, for an average of 7-12 college interns per semester, which enables the organization to test drive the skill sets of potential employees and assess aptitude and fit for the Cone Health organization, at no cost to the system.
