The apArt Private Gallery is an art gallery within an apartment. It was created to provide a space for new artists, especially those who have some connection with advertising, to expose their works of art to the general public. The first time when the iconic blue door of apArt BR opened was in 2013. Currently, apArt is also present in Bogotá, Colombia, and New York, USA. apArt was inspired by Christian Boros, a German businessman, who transformed an old World War II bunker into an art gallery in Berlin and made the bunker his home, where he currently resides.
From the moment of its creation, apArt gained an important place in the world of the arts and helped to give visibility to many artists previously recognized only as advertising creatives, starting with Leo Macias and his instigating artistic production. André Gola, Benjamin Yung, Angela Bassichetti, Gustavo Lacerda, Marc Baptiste and other icons of Brazilian and world advertising market have also exhibited in the gallery, culminating the year 2017 launching to the art market the already known recognized Marcelo Serpa in an anthological exhibition in New York.
One of the reasons for the success of the gallery is usually credited to the fact that it is offering artists the happiness of being valued for their artistic output and having their works put in touch with connoisseurs and buyers of potential art. The generosity of Thais Marin and Leo Macias in opening the doors of their home to exhibit works by little known artists, despite being famous in the field of advertising, is another factor directly responsible for the thunderous success of the gallery. "We are giving advertisers the opportunity to showcase their artistic side and to people interested in acquiring these works, a way of seeing and experiencing art in an unconventional way. In many cases we have been able to give them the opportunity to buy their first art piece and, for the artist, to sell their first one."
