“I recall attending the Drug Information Association's (DIA) annual meeting for the first time after joining Life Science Leader (LSL) magazine. During a networking event, I met a key opinion leader in the clinical space. This person was initially skeptical about LSL, until I mentioned that Leslie Williams was a member of our editorial advisory board. Thanks to Williams we suddenly had instant credibility with this KOL. But Williams has provided LSL with so much more value than just lending us her name. She is an actively engaged editorial advisory board member. When Williams was involved in organizing a presentation at DIA, she invited LSL to help. When we send her questions from readers seeking responses for publication consideration in Life Science Leader’s monthly “Ask The Board” feature, she always finds the time to put together thoughtful responses in a timely fashion. When we are striving to connect to key executives for features in our publication, she always does her best to help. At the peak of the biopharmaceutical drug pricing controversy, we invited Williams to participate in a live drug pricing roundtable discussion in Boston. Many executives, especially those from smaller companies, might shy away from the lime light created by participating in such an event. Not only did Williams attend, but she provided a highly unique perspective which we published in our July 2016 issue. The decision to invite Williams to serve on Life Science Leader’s editorial advisory board has certainly been a win for our publication. And while we hope she has found the experience of board service to be mutually beneficial, I imagine such a driven and intelligent leader would be extremely successful with or without Life Science Leader.
