You may have seen many nonprofits run a "Giving Day" or even heard about Giving Tuesday. These frequently use gamification techniques like challenges, milestones, and matches. Something to look at carefully is whether the donors or customers you attract through gamification techniques retain at better or worse rates than customers you attract through other methods. This will impact their LTV and inform how much you want to spend in these tactics.

During this time period, the average number of alumni of record per institution has more than tripled. It is safe to say that despite the tremendous gains in productivity over the last three decades, our capacity to maintain and develop human relations has stayed more or less the same.

Through the judicious use of automation with a human touch, we have an opportunity to reinvent how we create and maintain relationships with our tens (or hundreds) of thousands of alumni family members.
