Peering outside of your office, the CEO and CFO in organizations today are becoming increasingly concerned about cybersecurity and the challenges that go far beyond what a CIO can control. Issues surrounding organizational electronic data, how to safeguard the “secret sauce,” and how to ensure that there is no interruption in services or revenue generation have become part of the nightmares that wake up even the most discerning C-Suite officials.

Today’s HR professional must understand and grapple with the real world pressures related to this complex and ever changing issue in order to support and design the tools necessary to carry out the goals of those leading their organizations. To succeed in this technology driven environment where information is created exponentially, merely revising existing policies is not the answer. Nor is precluding the use of personal devices at the office. The Internet of Things and the ubiquitous nature of technology in the workplace requires HR to immerse itself in the issues raised by the CEO and CFO.

Please join Louis R. Lessig as he explains the essential ways that HR professionals should approach cybersecurity issues to provide a stronger level of confidence from the C-Suite in the activities of the organization as a whole.

For almost two decades employers of all sizes and industries have addressed harassment in the workplace similar to one another, careful to hit the critical areas to be able to argue that appropriate and effective harassment training had taken place not only with supervisors, but also with rank and file employees. In part this was done because, if the same employer was sued for harassment there was a defense that could be mounted based on the very program that had been conducted. Even in a down economy, harassment training continued to ensure that an employer could make the argument that effective training had taken place.

But was that training truly effective? Recently the EEOC charged a select task force to determine, in part, the answer to that very question. The result was an almost 90 page report which asserts that the methodology being used by most employers today related to training in this area is not just ineffective, but lacking components necessary to address the larger harassment issues that exist today. So what is an organization to do now in order to preserve its defenses, properly train employees and remain ahead of the curve in this area?

Please join Louis R. Lessig as he answers this question, discussing the evolution of the training employers provide, breaking down the major points raised by the EEOC, and providing options to address the latest recommendations in harassment training.
