The overall aim is to facilitate for the Changing Pilots’ to become role-models, that they will be able to contribute and spearhead the development in the region. Networking should expand, as should communication and exchange of experiences between Norrbotten, the surrounding regions as well as international contacts. The rate of migration and the exodus of well-educated, creative women and men from the region of Norrbotten should slow down.

  • International Market Selection (IMS) Models

    Lulea University of Technology

Running a business today, in any part of the world, will in somewhat make you familiar with the word “international”. Whether it is your customers, funds, products, websites, or supply-chain, influences from around the world will affect your business. Borders and nationalities are getting less meaningful, which makes it easier for companies to internationalize and find opportunities all over the world. Whether it is your customers, funds, products, websites, or supply-chain, influences from around the world will affect your business. Borders and nationalities are getting less meaningful, which makes it easier for companies to internationalize and find opportunities all over the world. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate whether there would be possible to make a generalization of the international market selection (IMS) process for companies and to investigate why Target Corporation chose Canada as their first internationalization decision. The findings of the thesis shows that a generalization of used IMS theories cannot be made, even though they all share some fundamental assumptions. Moreover, Target chose Canada due to multiple factors, though the key factor seems to be psychic distance. Target did, however, both contradicted and adapted IMS models in their internationalization process.

  • Business Intelligence system

I acted as a project manager in developing a business intelligence system for a multi billion dollar purchase department.

The system, which is now implemented as a cornerstone in LKAB's purchasing strategy, has the purpose of giving LKAB's purchasers the same insight and knowledge in a specific procurement category as the supplier. With only a few clicks the purchaser can gain valuable information from this interactive tool. Such information includes for example: risk (global, national…

With only a few clicks the purchaser can gain valuable information from this interactive tool. Such information includes for example: risk (global, national, category, economical), internal spending, finding other suppliers within the same category. The purchaser can also see how each category is divided into a number of cost drivers. These cost drivers are continuously updated through an automated system.

The tool has gained much interest within the industry due to the fact it is the only tool of its kind ever produced.

    • Developed recommendations for how a company should internationalize to a new market.
    • Received the highest overall score in class.

    ***Update
Target ended up abandoning the Canadian expansion due to economical factors. My thesis did question why Target actually chose Canada, thus it was much in contradiction to any existing ISM model.

  • Supplier Code of Conduct

    -

I acted as the project manager when the Supplier Code of Conduct for LKAB was developed and implemented.

The project was an extension to "Basic Requirments for Suppliers". The Supplier Code of Conduct focused on suppliers that had a high or extreme risk rating or were "flagged". The distinct difference from the Basic Requirments is the amount of depth. The project was an extension to "Basic Requirments for Suppliers". The Supplier Code of Conduct focused on suppliers that had a high or extreme risk rating or were "flagged". The distinct difference from the Basic Requirments is the amount of depth. Where the Basic Requirements "only" focuses on a few categories, the Supplier Code of Conduct consists of closer to 100 questions (regarding sustainability) to the suppliers. Each supplier that is considered to be of high or extreme risk, or flagged, will be asked to conduct a self-assessment of LKAB's Supplier Code of Conduct. A team from LKAB will follow-up the answers given by the supplier, live at the suppliers site.

Prior to a visit or a request for self-assessment, is a risk analysis conducted by LKAB's team. This risk analysis process was developed by myself and Maplecroft.

  • Basic Requirements for Suppliers (Code of Conduct)

Sustainability is something that every corporation needs to address. I acted as the project manager in developing a Code of Conduct for all of LKAB´s suppliers around the world.

It was a great challenge to reach out to every one of LKAB´s thousands of suppliers, and ask them to approve the new Code of Conduct "LKABs Basic Demands for Suppliers". We used an online based solution for the approval regarding LKAB´s Basic Demands for Suppliers. This makes it very simple to track the ratio of approval on our supplier base.

To better reach LKAB's supplier base, I gave lectures to our suppliers, both in Sweden and abroad. The suppliers then had the opportunity to ask questions and give LKAB feedback in regards to the project.
