It is crucial to identify what level of transactional jobs can be augmented or automated with help of technology. Detailed process mapping is critical to understand number of hand offs in the process or where there is major time lag or rework in completing the activities.

What do you do if you're a warehouse manager facing challenges in making strategic decisions?
First thing you can start with is actually to ask people on where they are investing their time and effort and then correlate it with data on operational efficiency, warehouse throughput, inventory accuracy, order fulfillment rates etc. It is also important to identify the results which are directly owned my warehouse manager like staffing, warehouse through put, operating cost etc. In my experience managers spend too much of time in operating or tactical decision making hence there are time and skill gap on strategic decisions.
