    The Mineralogical Record

    This 92-page catalog depicts highlights from the award-winning private mineral collection of Marc P. Weill. Pictured are 99 world-class specimens in photographs by Jeff Scovil and Harold and Erica Van Pelt. Also included are biographical sketches of Marc Weill and his two most collaborators, Daniel Trinchillo and Dennis Tanjeloff, as well as a bibliography of references to the many classic occurrences represented in the photos.

  • Rare Gem and Mineral Collector

    Weill’s dedication to researching rare gem and mineral specimens of the highest caliber began in high school. He eventually assembled one of the world’s finest private collections—an achievement that has been recognized with the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show’s Paul Desautels Trophy, the most prestigious honor in the field of mineral collection. His collection has also been displayed publicly at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Vanderbilt University Geology Department in…

    Weill’s dedication to researching rare gem and mineral specimens of the highest caliber began in high school. He eventually assembled one of the world’s finest private collections—an achievement that has been recognized with the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show’s Paul Desautels Trophy, the most prestigious honor in the field of mineral collection. His collection has also been displayed publicly at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Vanderbilt University Geology Department in Nashville, and the Bruce Museum of Arts and Science in Greenwich, Connecticut.

    He has donated significant specimens to the American Museum of Natural History and the Seaman Mineral Museum. Donating his lapidary lab to The Connecticut Museum of Mining and Mineral Science has allowed him to inspire kids and adults to explore the field.
