“Marcus is an incredibly special leader. Throughout my 5 years at Microsoft, I have reported to many high-performing group managers, yet Marcus has stood out to me the most for his ability to communicate product vision, motivate the team even during rough times (eg. successfully shipping one of Microsoft's key products, Cortana, and persevering when others thought it couldn't be done), and truly caring about every individual in his organization. No matter how junior you are, he trusts and empowers you to make product decisions and offers 1:1 guidance when needed. I have grown the most as a PM while on his team. One of my favorite memories at Microsoft was when Marcus dressed up as Clippy to a normally serious shiproom, convincing senior leadership to accept an important bug. The work environment he creates is inspiring, effective, and just plain fun. I know many--including myself--who would work for Marcus again in a heartbeat.. If you ever get the opportunity to collaborate with him, you'll understand why :)”
