What are common misconceptions about managing IT deadlines?
Deadlines are an important goal. But they are not the measure of success. You need to take all into consideration for a deadline. For me, success is an implementation with few issues is a success. If the timeline goes over to ensure quality and the right end product, that should be managed and taken into consideration of the overall timeline.

What are effective strategies to boost team morale during a crisis?
There are times on a program that leadership will change direction, resources, timelines and scope. When you're on a critical program with high visibility, and your team is working heads down 24x7, changes can effect them. I have found by me keeping and showing a positive attitude and direction (add in some lighter conversations with less drama), they respond. If a ship's crew sees the captain bailing, they will also give up.
