The MSIE program was heavily focused on data analysis and statistics. Courses taken include probability and statistics for engineers, operations research, introduction to manufacturing systems, database design, and engineering management. I additionally focused on product design and innovation courses, which align with my interests at the intersection between products and customers.

Activities and Societies: Co-Op Visteon Corporation, Dearborn, MI: Engineering rotational program with exposure to manufacturing, product engineering, and advanced R&D (3 Semesters)

The BSME program built a solid foundation in technical and engineering skill-sets. Required courses included statics, dynamics, strengths of materials, thermodynamics, vibrations of mechanical systems, instrumentation, measurement and statistics, design methodology, fluid flow, heat transfer, and modeling of dynamic systems. While an undergrad at Penn State, I took an engineering co-operative internship at Visteon Corporation, which lasted three semesters of approximately 12 weeks each at the…

While an undergrad at Penn State, I took an engineering co-operative internship at Visteon Corporation, which lasted three semesters of approximately 12 weeks each at the company's location in Dearborn, MI. The co-op exposed me to product development, manufacturing, and advanced product design functions within an organization.

Projects

  • Fast Track Valve Service

    - Present

Developed and led a project to offer fast track valves (custom valves in 6-10 weeks). I recognized an opportunity to meet a customer need for special valves in short lead times, and I performed a detailed market analysis/feasibility study that indicated a large, unmet demand. I formulated a strategy that was approved by senior management and CEO. I was project manager for the project team consisting of senior management in various functional areas. The project is on track for completion in…

  • Valve Project Database and Analytics Implementation

    - Present

Designed and implemented a database to analyze customer quotations focusing on KPIs such as hit rates, quotation-to-order conversion, quotation speed, etc. Used skills in programming (visual basic) and analytics (statistical analysis) to create a database and analyze trends. By implementing key findings, hit rates improved substantially boosting efficiency and revenue.

  • Eco-Seal Low Emission Packing Implementation

    -

Led a project with the goal of changing the valve design of our forged steel valve line to low emissions. Recognizing changes in the industry to lower valve packing emissions, Bonney Forge set out to be the industry leader in the low emissions valve technology for small bore valves. I was appointed as the project manager to define, coordinate, and integrate all aspects of the project including purchasing (negotiations and logistics), engineering (testing and qualifications), production, pricing…

Recognizing changes in the industry to lower valve packing emissions, Bonney Forge set out to be the industry leader in the low emissions valve technology for small bore valves. I was appointed as the project manager to define, coordinate, and integrate all aspects of the project including purchasing (negotiations and logistics), engineering (testing and qualifications), production, pricing and marketing, warranty, etc. There were many hurdles that had to be overcome due to new supplier relations and changing industry standards, but the team collectively implemented the low emissions design change years in advance of the competition.

  • Packing Stud Design Change & Flow-Induced Vibration Design Change

    -

Led multi-site project to develop and implement design change to mitigate the risk of valve failure due to Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) and to eliminate the risk of personnel injury; led design upgrade of valve to prevent flow-induced vibration damage.
