“I have known Matt Portner for more than a decade and consider him a uniquely qualified professional as well as a terrific person. Previous to joining our team at SageQuest, which was subsequently acquired by Fleetmatics ( and has now since been acquired by Verizon ), Matt fundamentally served in the capacity of COO for a growth business in the greater Cleveland area. The reason I mention this is that Matt has a generalized set of skills across most business disciplines, with a particular set of talents in the arena of enterprise sales acquisition, onboarding and high level support. By support I mean as a business partner with these enterprises, empowering them to maximize value, from a productivity, savings and bottom line performance. As a point of perspective, I was CEO at SageQuest and later became COO at Fleetmatics. In this capacity, we went from a start up in to an organization that grew a compound 1500 percent between 2004 and 2010, and then was acquired by Fleetmatics. As the Fleetmatics COO, we then grew the combined entity dramatically and through a mid 2012 IPO positioned ourselves for market leadership in our sector and overwhelming success. The reason I mention all of this is that Matt was a significant contributor at a senior level, both at SageQuest and then Fleetmatics. Matt's teams focused on the acquisition, onboarding and development of our most mission critical and largest customers. I can say with confidence that his organization made a profound difference in acquiring and growing hundreds of millions of dollars in annualized revenue. Matt was also an extremely respected and capable leader of staff as well as a bridge across departments. I highly recommend Matt across a wide range of functional responsibilities. He has navigated extreme growth, in both private and public environments, coordinated across geographically diverse teams, diverse cultures ( having worked across multiple acquisitions ) and a variety of very large and demanding customer needs. I am frequently asked to complete reference letters and most often politely pass.
