  • 3M Dynamic Merchandising

3M Dynamic Merchandising has been my main focus for the past two years. We work directly with clients like Anheuser Busch, WalMart, Pepsi, Coke, Best Buy Mobile, and Sprint Mart to develop new ways to merchandise product by utilizing current marketing campaigns to ultimately convert browsers into buyers.

We work directly with clients like Anheuser Busch, WalMart, Pepsi, Coke, Best Buy Mobile, and Sprint Mart to develop new ways to merchandise product by utilizing current marketing campaigns to ultimately convert browsers into buyers.
The examples on this page are from an internal prototype show, for which I was given two weeks to design the floorplan and graphics that would “tell the story” of our division. Tasks included; rendering mockups, mapping the space, creating all posters, graphics, animations, and videos, generating elements for a mobile app, and also printing, laminating, and installing all graphics with a $150 buget. I ended up hand-painting the 7 hanging walls and installing everything in time for the dry run-though. Everyone was very pleased with the turnout, but I often wish I
had more time to spend on the actual design of the elements.
That being said, if 3M has taught me anything, it’s how to handle projects with impossible timelines, zero budget, and little to no creative direction. You make it work.

  • Undone: A New Musical

    -

Undone: A New Musical started during my Sophomore year at MCAD, as a wildly ambitious idea to bring two things I love together; Music and Movies. Unfortunately, my classmates and instructors saw it as TOO ambitious, and I quickly realized that if I was going to make my dream a reality I wouldn’t be able to rely on their help. In the end, I found an investor and created the LLC, which I maintain as a business today, found a composer at McNally Smith to write the music, then wrote,

In the end, I found an investor and created the LLC, which I maintain as a business today, found a composer at McNally Smith to write the music, then wrote,
directed, and produced the film which won Best Minnesota Made Film at it’s first festival screening. The production costed over $125,000 and involved over 100 professionals, non of which were students (excluding myself).

  • Virtual Presenter

3M Virtual Presenters are designed to draw consumer attention to a product or service while delivering a customized, consistant message without needing a break...or a paycheck. The hardware is simple, you just plug it in. The content presented a greater challenge. That’s where I come in.

3M Virtual Presenters were the main reason Dynamic Merchandising hired me. They were looking for someone with a video background that could help facilitate the shoot, direct the talent, and enhance the scripts. They also needed someone to define a process by which someone could take the video from a shoot and turn it into an acrylic screen that fit the pre-designed hardware and format the video to align with the screen
at the same time. (Wait, what?) It’s hard to explain, but that’s exactly what I did. I developed a process that allows creative agencies to shoot and produce custom-made screens that fit our hardware and allow instant alignment. I know it works because I’m no longer the one doing it.
You may have seen our Virtual Presenter Jenny at SXSW, she even had an interactive touch-screen in front of her. I didn’t direct the video, but I did make the screen.
