I participated in the 2020 Eco Challenge at Ohio University which places students on interdisciplinary teams with the goal of identifying and solving sustainability-related issues on campus. This year, the teams were able to choose to pursue an idea that attempts to reduce the spread of COVID-19. My team chose to target both issues by proposing to install the StepNpull on campus. This would reduce the spread of bacteria, viruses, and other illnesses that are easily spread on stainless steel surfaces such as door handles. Additionally, we researched the potential reduction in carbon emissions as a result of less paper towel usage due to the StepNpull. Our team created a report to present to the judges and took first place in the competition. We also received recognition for our work from the President of Ohio University, Dr. Duane Nellis, as well as the President and Founder of StepNpull, Mike Sewell.
