“Wow! What an absolute honor to work with Melissa on our DSW Rewards Relaunch strategy. We retained IDEO to help us understand how we could improve the Rewards program. Melissa was lead on this effort and I can tell you from experience, there are very few people that can do what Melissa can do. From the very beginning, she sought understanding. She wanted to know the problems we were trying to solve, what data we had which revealed those problems and any potential non-negotiables. From that moment, we knew we had a partner (not just a consultant). Her and her team led an outstanding, data-intensive, customer-facing effort to understand truly what was at the heart of the dilemma. What we found out at the end of the engagement was that we were trying to solve the wrong thing. We didn't have something that was broken. We had something our customers loved - and they wanted it even better! Seems simple on the surface - but if we would have gone down a different path, it would have had big consequences. Not only did Melissa and her team reveal how to make the Shoe Lover experience even better, they engaged our senior leaders, they aided in the prioritization and ultimately helped us achieve results which exceeded our expectations. We also hired Melissa (and IDEO) to conduct an internal Innovation Workshop. It was such a success, we have built this into our continuous improvement model and plan to conduct every year. Her strengths are many - she is the complete package. She can engage a group of people, with drastically different skills, and unite them in a way where they leave knowing the single set of truths. Her knowledge is industry-agnostic which enables her innovative spirit to shine through since she's not limited by what can/can not happen. She helps everyone around her realize the art of the possible. This is difficult inside any corporate environment since we are always trying to solve many problems in a short amount of time. We are proud of our work together as partners.”
