    This CLE examines the interplay between Generative AI (“GenAI”) and copyright law, as framed by Melissa Rogozinski’s recent article, AI Copyright: Ethical and Legal Considerations for Legal Marketing and Sales.

    Regulatory considerations to be discussed include the recently outlined White House Executive Order on AI, and whether standing orders in federal courts around the country provide insights into how the courts may regulate use of GenAI in the judicial process. The session will place emphasis on ethical guidance found in the American Bar Association Model Rules of Professional Conduct and ABA Resolution 112 (2019), as well as the significance of the ABA’s formation of a Task Force on Law and Artificial Intelligence.

    This program will start with a brief introduction and background on what is AI. The main focus of this program will be how can law firms leverage AI in their practice to benefit the clients. What types of skills and knowledge do associates and lawyers need to know to be able to utilize AI properly in their practice. A brief discussion on the new ethical rule regarding AI with an emphasis on competency will take place. Attorneys of any age are encouraged to attend.
